History.
Our first Golden Retriever was to be a family pet with no thought given to the addictive nature of the breed. However reference to our Hall of Fame will show just how we have been totally hooked.Like many first time owners we decided that Amber Chapman was well worth showing and here we are today with our passion for the breed in no way diminished.
It would be fair to say that from the start in 1979 we have experienced many highs and lows as is only to be expected.
When breeding we have always ensured that our dogs or bitches have complied with the required health testing with regards hips and eyes and more recently elbows. However, as the majority of most breeders puppies go to pet homes temperament should always be one of the most important considerations to be made.
We have over the years had three home bred junior warrant winners namely Kidston Daiquiri , Kidston Aphroditi and recently Kidston Whirlwind, at only ten months old .Our lovely Cassie, Cassatess Just Heaven Sent to Kidston , bred by Angela Callow also gained this accolade.
Pinecrest Pioneer of Kidston was .awarded a Reserve CC .
Kidston Daiquiri sired a Show Champion and a reserve ticket winner.
All our dogs have been first and foremost good friends and companions with showing being an extra bonus. We have been successful with all our show dogs who have all been first prize winners.
Under the ownership of Kay and Paul Peyton, Kidston Halyard and Kidston Casanova have gained much success in the agility world.
All our dogs live in as part of the family and puppies are reared in their own separate room in the house where they are socialised and meet visitors. Stud dogs are carefully chosen to achieve what we consider to be the correct mating for our bitches ,with regards to type and temperament Only dogs and bitches with the recommended elbow score of 0 are bred from, and always dogs with well below the breed average of 18 for hips. The lower the better. Puppies are always health checked by our vet. Interested potential puppy owners are welcome to make numerous visits up to the time of collecting their new dog. They are provided with complete documentation regarding rearing, feeding and socialisation ,together with any other relevant information to assist in the correct upbringing of the puppy
We believe that it is important that people interested in owning a Kidston puppy should visit us and see the dam and our other goldens before the pups are born. We can have a cup of coffee and a chat about the fun and hard work that having a new pup brings to the home.
